WWW: (world wide web ) :
The www is an internet system used for creating, displaying, linking hypertext or multimedia files over internet. It is a large part of internet but not whole internet.
It is collection of web sites and web pages linked via special links called hyperlinks
WWW was purposed between 1989-1991 by Tim Berners Lee
The other services on internet: ftp, gopher, mail, news etc. used to collect information but it is not the part of WWW
Internet :
Is computer based world wide information network.
It is composed of large no of smaller interconnected networks
Website: website is a collection of web pages. It is a location on internet server.
Web portal: It is a website having hyperlinks to many other websites.
Home page: It is the top level web page of a web site. This is the page that gets displayed first of all when a web site is opened
URL: Each website has a unique address on internet called URL:Part of URL : Type://address/path
IP address: unique numeric address of each device on internet. String of numbers separated by dots.
Web server: It is a special type of server that can handle http request. Example of web servers: IIS, tomcat, WebLogic etc.
Web client: The request for web services or websites or webpages. All web browsers are example of web clients.
Web Browser : It is a software that is used to explore web sites. Text only browser: access web in text only mode e.g. Lynx
Graphical Browser: that can access web with multimedia contents(text, audio and video). E.g. Firefox , Opera , Chrome, Mozilla, Internet Explorer, Net scape

Web hosting is a service that allows us to put a website or a web page onto the Internet, and make it a part of the World Wide Web.
